Everyone has their quirks, and I’m no different. Honestly, I’m probably pretty weird when it comes to my unique habits and tendencies. For this week’s blog, I thought it’d be fun to share some of the things I do to make myself feel like I’ve got my sh*t together. Even on the days when I’m feeling off of my game or overwhelmed, these little odd habits of mine make me feel like I can conquer just about anything.
When My Underwear Matches My Outfit
I know I know, but it works!
Having My Nails Painted
There’s just something about fresh, well-manicured nails that make me feel like a total boss. I never typically get my nails done, but I do always trim them and put on a clear coat at the start of each week.
Exercising In The Morning
Because when you’ve crushed a workout before 8am in the morning, you feel like you can crush just about anything that gets thrown your way that day.
Wearing Nice Shoes
I have no explanation for this other than nice shoes make me feel freaking fabulous.
Writing Work To-Do Lists In The Evening
I always write down my to-dos every evening, numbering them in order of importance. This lets me immediately start grinding when I sit down to work instead of figuring out what my priorities are each morning. It makes me feel super on my game.
Writing Weekly Personal To-Do Lists
Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as checking off a somewhat meaningless to-do, amiright? Today my personal to-do list looked like: call Wells Fargo, pick up car, roast veggies for lunch tomorrow. It doesn’t have to be intense, but it helps me remember it all and I always feel so accomplished when it’s done!
This ones a little silly, but I do love wearing my blue light blocking glasses when I have big meetings or calls. It makes me feel confident. It also weirdly helps with my anxiety - almost like there’s a layer of protection between me and the people on the other side.
Cooking Meals At Home
I’m not an excellent cook by any means, but something about enjoying a delicious meal at home that YOU prepared really gets me jazzed and makes me feel like I can rule the world. This week I made a crockpot meal that would last us throughout the week. Like, who am I? Superwoman, that’s who.
Laying Out My Outfits At Night
Like when you were in grade school, remember? No seriously - I do this every night. I simply don’t have time to evaluate my wardrobe in the morning. I literally lay out everything from my morning workout clothes to workwear to jewelry. #dontlaughatme
Prepping My Lunches
I love being able to claim a healthy lunch in the fridge at work as mine! Lately I’ve been roasting fall veggies like squash, sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts to eat throughout the week
Reading The News
I like to be well informed and read the news everyday just in case it gets brought up in daily conversation. Plus, knowledge is power and it’s so important to be aware of what’s going on in the world! I read a local newsletter (CHS Today) and a national newsletter (theSkimm) every morning. Another one of my favorite newsletters is Girls Night In for fun self-care tidbits! It comes out every Friday morning and I always look forward to reading it.
My Sunday Mini Spa Day
I never feel like a get a REAL shower during the week. So, on Sundays I like to take things up a notch and take an extra long shower, shave all the things (with my amazing new Billie razor - yes, I’ve been #influenced), add in a hair mask and face mask, and then lounge around in my robe...cut and paint my nails...read a chapter of a book while they dry...and just take things extra slow. It always makes me feel like I’m ready to conquer the week ahead! And it’s such an extra special treat :)
Whatever your weird quirks may be, embrace them! You know yourself best, and any little thing that makes YOU feel better and more confident is a good thing, at least in my book :)
